I just finished working with Ali Zane and as everyone says he knows what he is doing. He gives you advice as a good friend would and only charges you for the things he accomplishes. He will ask you up front what you are trying to accomplish and give you his sense for how much different things he may be able to help with will affect your score and ultimately your ability to do what you want to do and whether it makes financial sense to engage him in his services. He doesn't try to sell you more services just to make more money for himself. Ali spent about an hour with me within a day of when I called him to review my credit. In my case - he gave me a sense for the few things I had on my report and roughly what the impact removing each was likely having on my overall score so we could prioritize and go after what was likely to have the biggest impact. He didn't guarantee everything would come off, but said he would do his absolute best. Within a month we got 4 big items off which increased my score by more than 100 points. The only other item I had we ended up getting an idea from a third party and he didn't charge me for that even though he had spent some time working on it. One other thing worth mentioning is that Ali was always willing to make time if I had general personal financial credit questions - can I close a couple of credit card accounts I don't use ? When should I start discussions with a mortgage broker if I am thinking of buying a place etc. etc. And even if he was not getting paid explicitly for having those conversations, he would make the time - Ali is a very knowledgeable and valuable resource. For someone like this to help you you have to share personal information so trust is absolutely critical and of course you want to hire someone who is likely to improve your score. He does both as well or better than almost any other professional I have worked with.
