Crashtag is made of aerospace grade Category 5 Al6V4 titanium, an alloy prized for its remarkable strength, high ductility and low weight. If it wasn’t hanging around your neck, the titanium in your Crashtag would probably be doing duty on the International Space Station or keeping a mountain climbing team from plunging into an abyss somewhere in the Andes. Your Crashtag exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and won’t corrode or oxidize under normal use. The titanium in Crashtag is hypo-allergenic and bio-compatible. Lastly, the Crashtag itself is not magnetic (however the magnetic breakaway clasp, is, because, well, that’s the whole point of it).

Both frontside and backside of the Crashtag are laser engraved. The laser changes the pigment of the metal itself, and as such is not simply a coating above the surface like paint or silkscreen. We call it engraving but if you really want to get into it the proper term is annealing. In theory it would be possible to get the engraving/annealed portion off the tag by taking something like a belt sander or angle grinder to it. Normal use however will not alter the laser engraving/annealing. Further, the color laser technique on the frontside utilizes a sophisticated laser system that can be tuned to reveal a wide range of colors on Crashtag’s titanium substrate. Lastly we stand by the integrity of our product. Both Crashtag and its closure are guaranteed for life. Simply return the defective component back to us and we’ll replace it free of charge.

Crashtag comes with a 26.5″ (67.3 cm) strong nylon microcord in your choice of eight colors. Each end is secured to a magnetic clasp. Putting Crashtag on and taking it off is easy, and with a reasonable tug, the clasp detaches. But if you want to go old school and use the classic military style ball chain, we’ve got that as an option, too. Our ball chain is rated to come apart at 20 lbs.

Crashtag silencers are also available when the ball chain option is selected. Alternatively, you could put your Crashtag somewhere else, like on your keychain, shoelaces, wrist, ankle, in your wallet, with your phone.

Finally, Crashtag can be ordered with a 6″ cable and barrel closure, which makes it super easy to put on your hydration backpack, fanny pack, hiking boots or running shoes, fanny pack, luggage, stuff like that.
