1) Extensive knowledge of the credit scoring algorithm with the 3 credit bureaus so that consumers know which actions to take (or not take) with regards to boosting their credit scores.

2) Compliance of the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) and the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act). We advocate on the consumers behalf and force creditors, collection agencies, and the credit bureaus to abide by the letter of the law with regards to their credit reporting and debt collection procedures.

3) Qualifying potential mortgage applicants for home loans. Extensive knowledge of FHA guidelines.
History

Established in 1993.

Owner, Jon Rosenthal, established The Credit Guru in an effort to provide affordable, "by-the-book", Credit Repair to consumers in need. He previously worked for a tax attorney who put him in charge of all credit repair and debt collection research for his practice, which in turn led to him being an expert in FCRA and FDCPA compliance. When the attorney he worked for retired, Mr. Rosenthal opened The Credit Guru. He saw a need for legitimacy in the industry and has been a strong consumer advocate in this field ever since.
