Capital Bankruptcy

Andrew Gerdes started Andrew J. Gerdes, PLC (now Capital Bankruptcy) in February 2005, to focus on his practice on bankruptcy law, especially to represent individual debtors in bankruptcy cases and others who find themselves having to deal with the bankruptcy case of another person or company. Before starting his own firm, Mr. Gerdes was a partner at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP where he practiced for nine years in that firm’s Litigation and Bankruptcy Departments.
At both firms, Mr. Gerdes has represented a wide range of clients in a variety of legal matters in both state and federal courts involving litigation and bankruptcy, including individual debtors (Chapters 7 and 13), corporate debtors (Jacobson Stores, Inc., Thorn Apple Valley, Inc., Awrey Bakeries), bankruptcy trustees (Chapters 7, 11 and 12), plaintiffs and defendants in non-dischargeability, objection to discharge, preference, lien avoidance and fraudulent transfer proceedings, banks, franchisors, automotive suppliers, landlords and secured lenders.

Before joining the Honigman firm, Mr. Gerdes served as a research attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals and also as a law clerk for Judge Michael G. Harrison of the Ingham County Circuit Court.
