Sculpture enthusiast Peter McAvoy Sr. started his business career in the scrap metal industry in Maine. When McAvoy started in this business other scrap dealers never gave out price sheets or gave consistent pricing. Dealers would quote one price on the phone, and the customer would get to the other dealers location and they would either down grade scrap metal or say that the pricing has changed.

Peter decided when he got into that business that he would change the way business would be done. He created a price list for every item that he purchased, and would always grade the scrap with the utmost integrity. McAvoy's reputation for honest pricing and fair grading got him on the cover of "Recycling Today" the largest circulated recycling magazine in the world.
