Life In Recovery Begins at Sanford House
Sanford House is a private residential and outpatient treatment center for
women. Located in the Heritage Hill District of Grand Rapids, Michigan,
Sanford House is a restored historic home that provides a boutique setting
for women suffering from substance use disorders. Traditional therapies are
complemented by mindfulness-based stress reduction, creative education and
therapeutic recreation including yoga, reiki, and acupuncture. Empowering
women to know the beauty, richness, and vibrancy of life in recovery is
what Sanford House is about.
Residential Treatment
Sanford House is a private, 10-resident treatment center designed to help
women find new strength from within and begin to heal the mind and body.
Our comprehensive minimum 30 day program begins with an assessment by an
experienced clinician who understands that each woman's experience with
chemical dependency is unique. Sanford House uses a "whole body" treatment
technique that provides tools, practices and support needed to bring
balance and joy to life, thereby creating the foundation for a fulfilling
life in recovery. Our secure surroundings allow women to feel safe sharing
their history in both group and individual settings. When it comes to
substance use disorders, family members often require special attention.
Sanford House counselors and medical professionals offer support and
education for families so they understand their role in recovery.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Held in our onsite Carriage House, IOP is a primary treatment option that
allows for convenience and flexibility in the continuation of everyday
activities. Sanford House's IOP schedule is tailored to accommodate the
scheduling needs of our clients. The curriculum is designed for women who
enter IOP directly as well as those transitioning from a residential
setting and desiring continued support. If you are facing legal issues our
counselors are available to help you get started. IOP participants have the
opportunity to implement new skills and recovery knowledge in their home
environment while processing their experience in a safe and supportive
group setting.
