i hired this company to sweep the chimney and clean the air ducts...the work itself was fine. the professionalism and customer service was absolutely terrible. this is why... the job was scheduled for 10am...at 10:15 i called to ask if they were coming being no one had showed or called. upon a return call i was told he was simply running late, furthermore i asked the company rep if it was ok to leave the contractor unattended and with a house key to lock up when he was done. i was assured that happens all the time and i had no reason to worry . at 10:50am the contractor showed. he explained he had previously been at the wrong house. No big deal. i gave some brief instruction to the contractor and left for the day. upon returning to the house and inspecting the work i found a new roll of toilet paper on the roll. that lead me to wonder how that got there. it mean the contractor had gone into a closed hall closet, rummaged through my things and found toilet paper. furthermore the toilet was clogged and so substantially so that when flushed it backed up into the tub. i called Dane at Twin City Furnace. he said he understood that i was upset and that he would be as well considering the circumstances. he said he would speak with the contractor. i told him i was a less than satisfied client at this point and that i wasn't sure what he could do to make me satisfied but that i would get off the phone with him and give him a chance to talk with the contractor and think about how he was going to rectify the situation. i thought Dane handled the situation rather well at that time. when Dane called back he had a completely different attitude. he said that the contractor told him that he only used the tissue to wipe his nose and that it was a courtesy that he went into my closet, found the toilet paper and put it on the roll. he denied that the contractor used the toilet and that i was making a mountain out of a mole hill. he said i was setting his company up. i asked him what advantage i would have to make up a story like that. he couldn't come up with a reason. he said i was being unreasonable. i told him that its not a courtesy when a stranger who is hired to do a job and left unattended goes through the clients things. he blew me off on my concerns and all he could do was apologize. i said no its not and that he should be apologizing and saying to me that this was not how things typically go and i dont want to have an unstasified client and this is what I am going to do for you. instead he said what is it you want seth. i told him again that i shouldnt be in that position in the first place. after asking me what i wanted a few more times, he offered to cover $16 worth of tax. i honestly dont even want the $16. i feel as though as a homeowner this is exactly the type of situation that gives all contractors a bad name and furthers the stereotype that they are all shady. at this time i will be going back through all my things to determine if any was taken.
