declining fast

I have now been to Sagra 4 times in the past year for lunch. Its near-campus but not too-near location is ideal. But I have been increasingly disappointed with the food. The pasta is always overcooked and tastes like leftovers. It is a far better place for drinks and appetizers than for a meal. As a native New Yorker and Italian girl from the neighborhood, I tell you to PASS on this place unless they get a new chef and revamp everything. I waited an hour for my food yesterday in a fairly empty restaurant, and all 4 of us at the table were less than thrilled with the meal. The oily vegetable soup was a real low.

Nice place for lunch

I have been there twice for lunch. Both the times I really enjoyed. So far I had pesto sandwich and Cesar salad. Tasty and fresh...will go again.

First time-Very good!

Very nice dining experience-I won't go into tons of details, but I must comment on the fact that the food was prompt and tasty. The staff was very helpful and we would go back again. Thanks for a great evening!

NO GOOD.

We had been wanting to try this place for a long time and had decided to order on dine on demand. We ordered Casarecci alla Arrabiata, Wild Boar Osso Bucco, and cheese cake for dessert. It was awful.

The osso bucco was totally tasteless and was certainly not seasoned at all. Definitely not worth the $30. The pasta dish tasted like spaghetti-o's with olives and beef jerky-like salami. Gross. The noodles in the pasta were over-cooked and mushy as well. I could not even finish mine and moved on to the cheese cake...because, hey, you can't possibly mess that up, right? Wrong. That was also not good as I was not able to eat that either due to the awful consistency and the disgusting balsamic vinegar topping (which was really just vinegar out of a bottle).

I cannot believe how disgusting this food was. Not even mediocre. For the price we paid for this food, it should have been at least tolerable. I actually read the reviews from this site convinced it would be good, and was let down. I have no idea what happened here, but our experience does not even deserve the one star that we have to choose to make this review.

I never write reviews about anything really, but I was so disappointed at the price we paid for such horrible food, that I felt compelled to inform people of our terrible experience.

Sagra is SO good!

My family and I have been to Sagra many times. We love all of their pizzas and my personal favorite is the Sagra pizza. They also have great salads...my personal favorite is the Arugula salad with their homemade dressing, gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and pears! Their pasta is great and I loved the Risotto dish we had. My husband loves their lasagna and I am a fan of the Tiramisu!

We have always received excellent service. My husband and I have hosted work gatherings and happy hours with friends and everyone has raved about the food. It is great for a family dinner, for a group celebration or a romantic evening. I could easily eat there once a week

good food, good price

have walked past this restaurant at least twice a day for the last year and a half. And I've probably thought to myself, "you should try that place" almost as many times.

Last weekend I finally did, and I couldn't have been more impressed. Like others before me have stated, the service was impeccable, if not a smidge too eager. We had planned on sharing a tomato & mozzarella appetizer and having lasagne and one of their individual pizzas for dinner, but after hearing that night's specials we quickly changed our minds.

We started with the eggplant rollatini, which is easily the best I've ever had. I hope they at least consider adding this to the regular menu, or heavily rotate it into the specials, because this alone is worth coming out for.

For my entree I had the ravioli, also a special that night, and that was buttery, fresh, creamy...everything you'd want and expect in the dish. My boyfriend had the mushroom pizza which was crispy and cooked to perfection; far better than Vespaios in my opinion.

Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake with mixed berry sorbet; again, absolute perfection. Next time I want to try their cheesecake or molten chocolate cake!

The best part though was the price. Two of us had appetizers, entrees, beers and split dessert for the low, low cost of $65, including tip. For a dining experience this nice, that's mere pennies, my friends.

good food and service

I was skeptical selecting a restaurant over the internet, but was pleasantly pleased with the results. Based on the reviews, location, prices, and menu I chose Sagra. Weekends in Austin can be a crowd frenzie and I was nervous that the restraunt experience would not measure up. Not only did it measure up, it exceded my expectations. We were warmly greeted and seated promtly to a lovely table for four. Our wait staff were very helpful, attentive, and unobtrusive. They were readily present, attending to our immediate needs. You hardly knew they were there. Not once did we feel the need to request someting, they seemed to know what we wanted or needed (even before we did), there was no having to ask for service here. What more could you want? Our waiter was excellent. We wanted a nice meal at a reasonable price and he senced that. He was very warm and friendly, he made you feel as though you were invited into his own home for dinner. He assissted us with wine selections, and menu choices and he was dead on with his recommendations.

Being a wine lover I was pleased with the extensively wonderful and very tempting wine list, but we chose a reasonable price selection and it was fine for our dinning purpose. Each of us ordered one of the pasta dishes. The pasta was light, just the right size proportion, served piping hot, and cooked to perfection. We all sampled each others and each was more delicious than the next.

I would definately go back without question! No worries here, good food, good people, good atmosphere, clean, efficient service....a great dining experience. Great job to the staff and chefs at Sagra.

The only FYI I have is that the menu on their web site is not exactly the same as in the restaurant, but it was very similar (food/prices) and all good just the same

Great pizzas

Make a pilgimage even though time I'm from the Big Apple.

The crust is always perfect, and the toppings are of the highest quality. The fresh basil lifts the whole flavour experience. Not expensive either!

Really friendly people

I have heard about Sagra before as being a great place , so I decided to go there with some friends last Saturday. I was really impressed with how friendly everybody was. The halibut was really good and the cat cake was also really good....
