Fresh and authentic!

They is a great fresh Mexican place! The food is authentic and delicious. It is a Mom and Pop restaurant which was established at least ten years ago. A great find!

Pretty Good Caribbean Food

La Bamba is a reliably good little restaurant. It's not the best Cuban food in town, but it's good for what it is. Unfortunately, they do make a lot of the food ahead of time -- I tried to order a Cuban sandwich without mayo, but they couldn't do it because they were all pre-made. However, for those people whose only experience with Latin American food is Mexican fare will be happy to know they do serve guacamole (a distinctly non-Cuban side). So, yeah go ahead and dip your tostones (fried bananas in guac).

Oh yeah, they only accept cash.

Delicious Oven-Roasted Pork (neighborhood secret!)

I discovered this great little restaurant about two years ago driving down Glen Oaks Blvd in my neighborhood, and I am now a weekly devotee. I fell for the delicious oven roasted shredded pork (served in burritos, tacos, huge tostadas, and as a platter) and have only recently broken away to explore different things on the menu such as the Panama Shrimp, Camarones al Ajillo, and tacos with carne asada and chicken, never to be disappointed.

The restaurant is under new ownership and the new owner, Chris Facchetti, is bringing it up a notch. They have a beautiful new covered patio with heaters and wind sheilds which make it a great outdoor spot at any time. They do accept charge cards as well as cash. The wait staff is friendly (I'm on a first name basis with a couple of them!) and professional, and service is usually quick. Once in a while the waitress can get "slammed" but Chris is usually around to keep things running smoothly.

I haven't had any other Caribbean food to compare this to, BUT I have worked in restaurants for years and LOVE food and eating. I know good food and, especially for the price, it can't be beat! It's hard for me to go longer than a week without having something yummy from La Bamba. Watch out for the SPICYlicious tomatillo salsa - it'll knock your socks off!

La Bamba

This place is a gem and I hope that the new owner does well with it he is a very nice guy, along with his staff they are all very pleasant. The food is delicious, and big portions for being a great price. I kid you not when I say that the Mahi Mahi tacos are the best I have had in the LA area and I have tried a lot of fish tacos in this city, nothing has compared! I highly recommend this place, the only thing is it can get a little hot during the day but I just went buy it and they have misters now so its awesome not to mention they play Island/Rasta music and have a TV on the counter if your a soccer fan, no liquor yet but I think they are working on that.
Almost forgot the chips and salsa you get when you sit down are so good it hurts throw a little green sauce on your chip and hold on it can be spicy but so tasty.

The New Owner Ruined it!!!!

I am sad to say La Bamba is not the great place I once knew. I went for lunch with my Husband and 2 year old Daughter this week. The waitress was pleasant and the atmosphere is nice with the patio seating and mysters but....the food was HORRIBLE! I ordered the 3 taco combo and the meat inside was COLD on all 3 tacos and tasted as if it was going BAD! The only thing that had been heated was the tortillas! My husband's Cubian sandwich was basicly ham lunchmeat and bread.......blah!
When we presented the waitress with a coupon from the 2008 Entertainment guide for $8.00 off she said, the new owner doesn't accept those coupons anymore...huh? She then apologized for him and his changes and said I'll bring you a plate of beans/rice for the Baby and a free cheesecake to make up for it....and then NEVER came back to our table. I could tell she was embarrassed.
So when we were finished I asked if I could have a cup of water for my daughter and she said, oh the new owner won't let us do that anymore....but, I can sell you a bottled water though! OK, so I asked for a cup of ice instead, she got this scared look on her face and walked away. She then came back with a small ice water and wispered here just don't tell anyone I gave it to you! WHAT!!!!! WATER????? Is that even leagal? We spent $25.00 and we can't get an ice water for our Baby? Wow. The new owner is RUINING the place. Save your money and go elsewhere.
