With it being tax time, I decided to use our local Jackson Hewett on Cotton Grove Rd in Lexington,NC 27292. BIG MISTAKE!!! This is the worst excuse for a business that I have ever encountered. The sign outside the establishment states "$50 less than your last years tax returns". What a crock!!! I took my reciept from last years return with me and asked if they could price match. "Oh certainly not a problem with that maam. Have a seat. it will be less than $99." The atmosphere was very unprofessional with one tax preparer talking with customers about jail time and Bo-Bos babys daddys childs support and drug use. She was on one side of the office talking across the room with a customer. Clearly not any professionalism found in the training manual. The television in the waiting area was louder than theater decibal level. Tom Brinkly,the tax preparer handling my return is steady typing away on his computer, filling in the blanks. Even with all the noise, I am still happy and patiently waiting for Tom to get to the heart of the matter. So just a mere twenty minutes later. Voila!!!! Tom has completed his task!! I am super excited at how speedy this has gone. I already had somewhat of a figure in my head as to what my refund was going to be. So then he breaks the news that he is about to break one off in me!!!!!! My refund is exactly what I figured except for the absuberant amount that JACKSON HEWITT was going to try and charge for me for their services Almost $300! What a RIPOFF!! Initially shocked at the amount, I am speechless! I ask him if there is a mistake after all, I only had w-2s not itemizing or anything special. I tell him that is not acceptable. He stammers over to the other preparer and asks her for a coupon. She takes off out the back door to look in her car for a coupon. REALLY??? I can see her through the back door digging through her vehicle for a coupon!!! Like I stated earlier;" NO TRAINING, APPARENTLY!" She comes back in empty handed and tells TOM, "Well I couldn't find it. Oh well!!. Maybe I will find it after our customer leaves". The whole time laughing like it is no big deal and of no importance to her and Bo-Bo. I am still speechless, needless to say. So Tom turns back to his little computer screen and pecks away somemore. After ten minutes of pecking at his keyboard he has another figure. Wow!! He has knocked of twenty dollars more!!! HOLY COW !! WHAT A SAINT!! At this point I am livid but still polite. I simply tell him give me my paperwork, I will NOT DO BUSINESS WITH YOU OR JACKSON HEWITT. Just for the record I did not even want to put one star on this establishment.
