Bodine Enterprises AKA Maxi Space is the single worst company I have ever done any type business with anywhere in the country, BAR NONE! For some 20 months I have rented units from Maxi Space on two of their properties in the Pierce County area. Both properties had and have multiple people living in units, people dealing drugs or selling stolen goods out of units, and multiple unlicensed businesses. Brett Overfield’s response was always that they don’t police their properties. As a result of the large drug lab at their Pacific Ave. property, I was moved to their Meridian property, and although they said they would cover the expense, they didn’t. This was not a huge surprise as Mr. Overfield has never once, even when confronted with factual evidence to the contrary, told me the truth about “ANYTHING”. They also tried to violate my lease on multiple occasions and it is now the subject of legal action. Many of my neighbors and I have also been the victims of the Public Utilities scam they have been running, apparently for some time now, concerning electrical service in the units. Most of the units are not legal, according to the County, for what they are renting them for in the first place. No matter what, never give them a credit card for payment as many of my neighbors who did have been charged multiple times in one month for rent, even causing one guy’s house payment to be delinquent. Their so called security features are a complete farce as are many other claims they make in their advertising, such as clean properties. The bathrooms are almost always dirty as a result of showering etc. by those living in units, and they seldom actually clean the lots unless people complain, or the local authorities are involved. I have complete photo documentation of my claims as well as a 20 month long record on my website. Don’t take a review site as gospel though! Go to their properties and talk to as many tenants as possible and ask lots of questions. You might be surprised what you hear. According to Bruce Bodine himself, who is the most narcissistic egomaniac I’ve ever met, as of 8/21/11 he had approximately $700,000.00 in outstanding charges and fines from various agencies against him. Seems he just can’t run a legitimate operation. Again, research these slumlords before you give them any money! Contact the Building, Zoning, and Health Departments, as well as the Fire Marshall and Department of Ecology, not to mention the local law enforcement agencies. You can also find a lot of interesting information in Public Records. There are better people in Pierce & King Counties to do business with!
