Absolutely Wonderful
the wait is long because Dr. Abernathy is wonderful! Staff around him is not so great but he is damn near Jesus when you have an ill pet. He has removed tumors from my ferret, helped get puppy through parvo, yes I said Parvo, removed...

the wait is long because Dr. Abernathy is wonderful! Staff around him is not so great but he is damn near Jesus when you have an ill pet. He has removed tumors from my ferret, helped get puppy through parvo, yes I said Parvo, removed intentional blockage from dog who loves brillo pads, and helped my ailing chicken. If anything, Dr. Abernathy should be cloned, so more people/animals can experience his competent and kind ways. If you love your pet, you need to schedule an appointment asap, before there is any trouble.

Supurb service - caring staff - excellent vets!
We have been using Sunrise Vet Clinic for several years to take care of our cats. The staff has always been warm and friendly. Dr. Abernathy, Dr. Shrewsbury and Dr McCall have all seen our cats at one time or another. Dr Abernathy is considered one of the best vets in New Mexico, as a result, he is extremely busy and may be a bit rushed. When Dr. Shrewsbury or Dr McCall (also excellent vets) have taken care of our pets they have always taken as long as necessary. In a couple of extreme emergencies we were seen immediately. We will continue to use Sunrise as our vet clinic of choice and recommend them highly.

Bad front desk, so so vet experiences
The front desk has been horrible. Whenever I call I am told there is a call ahead of me and I wait and wait and wait. When in the office the front desk is very unfriendly and it takes forever to check in. And while sitting there waiting I witness them telling callers there is a call ahead of them but no one is talking to anyone on the phone, just put on hold... It is not unheard of to wait 30 minutes to a few hours especially for walk in appointments.
The vets there are pretty good but always in such a rush to just get you out. They don't take much time with your pet. Then checking out takes even longer with the unfriendly staff. They are cheaper than some other places in town but the wait and the unfriendly staff is not worth a couple bucks in savings.
