Fire The Manager
Had a terrible experience with friends ... spent a lot of money on dinner and drinks and the manager would not give us the proper discount the restaurant was promoting in their e-blast. We both dine there often ... and I drive 45 minutes from Summit County.
When both parties attempted to have this situation made right by writting letters to the owner, again it was more of an "I don't care" attitude. Will never return ... and making sure we tell at least 10 people to do the same. That's marketing your business Lopez ;-(

Extremely Rude
I would have loved to have dined at Lopez recently on a Thursday night. My friend and I wanted to partake in their 1/2 price margaritas on Thursdays and each order an appetizer. When we entered, it was busy, but there were plenty of open tables. We went to search for a seat at the bar, which was crowded. When we were halfway seated at a table in the bar area, a server was extremely rude and told us we could not sit there unless we belonged to a certain party, who apparently reserved the entire bar area. When we then asked if we could have 1/2 price margaritas in the dining room, the hostess told us we could. Then she said that they were only seating guests who were each ordering an entree. This is extremely POOR practice, especially in the restaurant business where there is always somewhere else down the road to go. The customer is always right, but not at Lopez. When we asked if we could dine in the establishment if we were each ordering an appetizer and drink and were still denied. I was unaware that restaurants could descriminate based on how much food you were going to order. Needless to say, we left that night and will never go back. If you want to be treated like second-class citizens, go to Lopez- otherwise, try some of the other wonder places on the same street.

Horrible Customer Service
I had the misfortune to dine at Lopez with my two sisters for the first and last time. We decided to each order 2 appetizers (6 total) and share for a broader tasting experience. I ordered a selection that, when it was brought out, was not as it appeared on the menu. Although the menu said "empanadas", I was served a very small "single" empanada which could not be shared. I politely informed my waitress that a "single" empanada was not what appeared on the menu and therefore was not what I wanted. I requested to order an alternative. She rudely informed me that I ordered it and couldn't just decline to take it and she'd get the manager.
The manager apologized and told me that there was a misprint in the menu. He said that our waitress would return after she calmed down (she was too distraught to continue providing service because she was politely told that I didn't want an order that was not as it appeared on the menu?) He agreed to take the item off my bill. I ordered a substitution, we dined and requested a bill. The item I declined was on my bill discounted 50% despite the fact that I said I didn't want it, sent it back to the kitchen and reordered a different selection which was also on my bill.

Unbelievable!!
I recently had to put together a last minute birthday dinner for my best friend from out of town. Lopez completely hooked it up for me! The service was incredible, the margaritas were as authentic as the gourmet food! I highly reccomend Lopez for anyone who enjoys southestern/mexican food with a central american twist!

A big disappointment.
This is our third time there. Food just OK. Overpriced and overrated. Second glass of wine came 10% full only. Service very very slow. Most important, It is not close to mexican food at all. Ony positive point is the good location in the Cedar-Lee neighborhood.

lopez has, for over 25 years, remained as the preeminent mexican/southwestern restaurant. the most sophisticated, ambiqious, and talanted, their consistancy and inovation is sensational.
