Great selection!
This place has everything you would need pertaining to lighting. I came here to get some light dimmers for my house and they were very helpful!

LBU - What a cool store! Professional but fun sales staff!
WOW! - I went into Light Bulbs Unlimited for a $3.00 light bulb and I walked out with over $600.00 of the coolest stuff. I did not expect a light bulbs store to be fun and entertaining, but I was pleasantly surprised. This place has a million different types of light bulbs from antique Edison styled bulbs to a huge array of energy saver, decorative and colored light bulbs. Unlike the sales staff in a large chain store an LBU employee walked me around the store for an hour showing me all the coolest light up gadgets and how they work. I bought a laser planetarium, an elegant looking lighted flower bouquet, flameless LED candles that you can control with a remote, a lava lamp, black light, and a 10 ft LED remote controlled ribbon light that I am putting behind a giant peace sign I have hanging on my wall.
Thanks Stephen and George for for your time and your great sense of good humors.
A very fun personable staff.
I'm definitely shopping here again.

amazing selection and very helpful salespeople
This is actually the first time I have ever written an online review, but on reading the review by adamcitysearch I couldn't believe we visited the same store.

I visited the Sherman Oaks store about a year ago looking for a replacement bulb for my tensor lamp. (This is a type of lamp that was the latest and greatest about 40 years ago, regular stores no longer sell replacement bulbs for them.)
What I didn't realize was that there were different varieties of tensor bulbs. The gentleman who waited on me, who looked like he could easily moonlight doing Santa Claus jobs come December, beard and all, was incredibly patient, friendly and helpful as I tried to decide which of the bulbs he showed me looked most like the one I had brilliantly left at home. I honestly felt guilty taking so much of his time for such a small purchase - a whopping $1.62 including tax. He treated me just as patiently and helpfully as if I had been deciding among items costing thousands. I did then also buy another item, but the two items together only came to $12.39.
On getting home and trying the bulb I was very relieved to discover that I had miraculously picked the correct bulb, it fit and I am still using the lamp with it. :)
I would DEFINITELY not only visit the store again if I need any non-standard lightbulbs, but I would highly recommend it.

For demeaning, condescending customer service, THIS IS THE PLACE!!!
How do you, on a very busy day with lightbulb replacement #28 on the priority list, turn a spontaneous stroll into a lightbulb store into a stressful event?
Light Bulbs Unlimited showed me how it's done.
From the moment I walked in, I got a bad vibe from the guy who "helped" me. He looks like Milton from Office Space on steroids. A big guy. He said "can I help you" from the other side of the store, behind the counter when I walked in. I looked up and didn't see who said it right away, so he said it again, forcefully, and when I acknowledged and started to talk and approach him, he gave me a look like I had insulted him, or like I was a moron.
I was immediately apologetic about the fact that I wasn't sure exactly what I needed. But maybe if I could tell him what the bulb I was trying to replace LOOKED like and what it was used for, he could help me find it. If not, no big deal.
I described a shape, he would pull a bulb out. "Like this?" "Well, kind of- but I guess it's less round- more tapered at the top." He would then throw the bulb back on the shelf, walk frantically to the next location, and repeat the process, increasingly visibly irritated at having to interact with me like this. I didn't know the wattage and voltage, either, which irritated him off even more. He was shrugging his shoulders, throwing his hands up in the air when I answered incorrectly, giving exaggerated sighs of impatience at every opportunity.
I'm not an idiot, and I don't like being spoken to like one. Few times have I ever been so put off by sh_tty customer service that I was compelled to burn up more of my time writing a review online. This guy is passive aggressiveness personified, and I got the impression that he's like this all the time.
My friend tells me she had a similar experience at the WeHo location.
Hey, guys- take your lightbulb expertise power trip and go f__k yourself.
