Independently Owned and Operated

The Root is independently owned and operated and is a warm, inviting place to enjoy the regions finest vegan cooking and a great cup of Phoenix coffee. They do source Phoenix coffee but are not owned or operated by a chain.

Phoenix Coffee House- great Memories!!

This is actually a Phoenix Coffee house, and is one of several Phoenix Coffee houses of the locally owned chain, one of the few that still survive in Cleveland. Each Phoenix offers its own take on a coffee house and what it should contain, they also offer a variety of ambiances depending on the area and the clientele. This phoenix specifically, has a younger crowd, and a good variety of some older customers, but mainly, the attraction is that of the 15- 20 type crowd, as when a Lakewood resident turns 21, they tend to hang out in bars more than coffee houses. But if you are looking for some coffee and checking out some of the local Lakewood shops, this is a great stop for a general waterhole, with good prices and some really great drinks. Personally, when I was a teenager, this was my favorite spot, but at times, I feel like this is a great location, vs a great hang out spot to just chill.
