Worst customer service in the United States

There are many businesses who strive to have good relations with their customers but this is not wone of them. They are almost abusive and even the atmosphere upon entering is negative. The negative reviews are not exaggerated. These people need to go back to France. You either go by their rules or else you are asked to leave. No, not asked, kicked out! This is an unbelievable place and their menu is almost the same as the day they opened the door. Try just buying a loaf of bread. They seem to resent selling it to you.

POOR SERVICE, OVERPRICED, Mediocre food at best

I just read the prior reviews and certainly can understand the situation and negative reviews. Having dined at the Worthington and Lane locations, I can attest to the fact that it is the same poor experience at both locations. The owners are rude and could care less about customers. I've heard them yell at employees, many of whom appear to be high school, college age students, and also customers. I witnessed the owner's daughter, Charlotte (overweight, dark haired young girl) yelling at one of the young workers for dropping a bagette on the floor and the owner's daugher picked it up from the floor, brushed it off, put it up on the cutting board and sliced it and then placed it on the next unsuspecting diner's plate to come in the door and through the cafeteria line! They are disorganized, the young staff isn't trained and can be found standing around while customers wait in line. They are often out of the brickettes and quiches or if they aren't, they are old and you can tell they've been sitting under the warmer too long and they don't taste good. Prices are very high for food that is mediocre at best.

Fantastic local eatery!

I have been coming to La Chatelaine for years and I've had nothing but fantastic experiences! The owners genuinely care about their customers, employees and products. I have hosted large parties there before and the service has been wonderful each time. True, they are occasionally out of some items, but that's understandable when you have such a fresh and desirable product!

A staple in their community

I would just like to say that they are a staple in each community there in. La CHatelaine is a great true french restaurant and the owners are truly amazing! Stan and Gigi are great folks who give a lot of their time and effort to the community and customers. THe food is sooooo amazing and these restaurants have become a weekly if not daily routine for my family. La CHatelaine is an experience that transports you back to France. I love it -do not change

VERY BAD SERVICE AND FOOD, RUDE OWNERS

The experiences here at La Chatelaine are about the very worst I can ever recall having had in a restaurant. As a member of a social group, we held several small group lunches here simply because of the location and all of us have agreed we will NEVER go back to this place.

The owners are RUDE, yelling and screaming at the staff and Gigi, the wife of the owner is the worst. This woman looks like she came out of some type of bordello or truck stop, bleached white hair, tacky, low class looking. No manners, no class, none of this family, and it's not due to their foreign nationality. They are just rude, low class shop owners looking to take advantage of whoever walks in and could less if their customers return. They have a very short term mentality. Not what you expect in this part of town.

There were 4 of us and everyone of us had a problem with our order and food. One order was simply taken incorrectly - entirely wrong - and they had to re do it but it took so long to re do that the rest of us were through with our meals by the time it arrived. I heard the simple order given correctly to the waitress the first time, but when they messed it up , they acted like it was our fault!

The soup was luke warm, and cheese was too warm and hard as if it'd been sitting out all day. Fries on one order were cold and the casear salad was just lettuce, nothing else. Sandwiches had very little meat on them. Very poor value, poor service and poor food for VERY HIGH PRICES. UNBELIEVABLY BAD service and attitude of owners toward guests.

Food looks beautiful, but tastes awful

The place looks so charming, cute, rustic and as you enter, you are greeted by all those beautiful pastries behind the bakery display. I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the restaurant was a big disappointment.
The waitress was not the most friendly or helpful with menu when asked about certain items. We tried the flight of the wines which was ok... can't go terribly wrong with wines. We ordered french onion soup, but instead, we both got cream of mushroom soup. Not sure how that happened... cause cream of mushroom soup doesn't really look like a french onion soup.
I tried something similar to chicken potpie. The dish looked pretty impressive. A big scoup of white, creamy, steamy chicken mixture served on a white plate, topped with a golden brown puff pastry, baked to perfection. Well, I should have just taken a picture of it and left. I wish I hadn't taken a single bite. Yuck. It tasted awful. There was no flavor. I added some salt to see if that would help, it was little better, but the dish was beyond help. The white, creamy sauce tasted like it came out of a campbell's can of cream of mushroom soup, but worse. You can make a better dish throwing in a bunch of chicken breasts and bunch of can of cream of mushroom soup in a slow cooker- trust me, that's a real recipe I use time to time, it's delicious.
The puff pastry thing on top of my dish tasted like a puff pastry thing. It did not add much of anything to the dish, other than maybe a little bit of texture and the look. My friend had some kind of beef thing with gravy, again, it looked good and she didn't really say anything or did I taste it, so I'm not sure how other dishes are there. I don't plan on finding out.

Just like Europe, but with European prices!

I like this place mostly because it reminds me of Europe but it is really quite expensive for what you get. I have no idea how a bowl of soup, quiche and a water ends up being $15 bucks for lunch? The do have a great croque monsieur though! Recently I stopped there for dinner and was very disappointed. I felt that it was overpriced and not very good for a place claiming to have a CIA (Culinary Institute of America) chef.

I would recommend their soups and stick to breakfast and lunch service.

Worst food I have ever eaten. Hands down. Really bad.

I was excited to try La Chatelaine for the first time, but I ended up seriously disappointed. The food was absolutely dismal. I have never tasted blander food. And it seemed to be very low-quality. The salmon was tasteless, the mashed potatoes were definitely made from a mix, and my boyfriend's steak was dry, flavorless, and came with the most generic, fast-food style fries. The only decent thing about our whole meal was the bread. The waiter did not bring us our salads and did not realize this at any point during the meal, maybe because he never came back to check on us after the he brought our food. The service was slow, despite the fact that they were not busy at all. Seriously horrible food. I deeply regret having gone there, when Columbus has so many other great restaurants. The French would be horrified to find out that La Chatelaine is representing their cuisine so negatively in Columbus.

Great Food/Price/Service

I go to LaChatelaine at least 3 times per week because you just can't beat their bread and pastries in the morning and the great price on the gourmet dinner offerings at night. My favorite is when Chef Tad creates special occasion menus (that man is in my opinion the best chef in Columbus). The family that ownes and runs these restaurants are so warm and engaging once you have been there a few times they remember you by name and make you feel like family. I encourage anyone who has not had the pleasure of dinning at LaChatelaine to make a point of it ...you will not be disapointed.
