Guac

The Guac at la canasta is outstanding. The burritos are solid, probably top ten but not top 5. If your looking for a quick, cheap burrito this place is money. The nachos are also pretty solid.

The Mission in Cow Hollow

Great take-out burritos in a clean and convenient location served by nice people. I have been going here for close to ten years and have never had a disappointing experience.

Nachos...

Try the nachos mexicanos with steak and go "Spicy". Parking is always a problem, you may need to get creative.

Pac Heights Delivery Heaven

there are very few mexican restaurants that deliver near where i live. that said, eve if la canasta didn't deliver, i'd probably go out of my way to visit it every now and then.

granted, the burritos aren't as good as cancun burrito or most of the mexican places in the mission [or la posada in the richmond for that matter], but its extremely solid. veggie burritos are well priced and usually filled with guac. i love the crushed beans they used to simulate the lard-filled refried beans used in a bunch of burritos.

i am a bit surprised they don't include chips with delivery, that is a serious bummer. it would be nice if they included containers of salsa as well.

Up and Down

Sometime you go there and the food is good. Othertimes it is ridiculously bad. Guacamole with unripe avocados so hard you can break into them with a fork, soup very watered down. Too bad, since when it is good the Pozole is great. But lately, 4 out of 5 times this soup is closer to dishwater.

Better than Taco Bell...

...but just barely. I've been to at least 2 dozen burrito joints in SF and this is by far the worst. The food is bland and the service moves between slow and glacial. As far as I can tell, the only way it stays in business is because it's in the Marina, the denizens of which are mostly ivy-leaguers that don't know good food from bad.
