Khan Associates manage the building which is also known as Khan Building. I would never recommend it to anyone to rent in this building or in any other of the properties that they have for the following reasons.
I recently moved to another apartment in their building located at 5101 N. Sheridan Road Chicago, IL from third to fourth floor due to harassment, drug users & sellers, bugs in room and physical intimidation, prostitution and threats to me by the same group of tenants. To my observation there are at least six apartments where some or the whole group of tenants are involved in all or some of the activities. Most of these tenants are residing on 3rd and 4th floor. Their might be more of them since I was told that the building has more then 200 apts. The company has 4 more properties in Chicago in Devon and other areas. I paid more then $3000.00 in rent in the last six months and the place is not worth a cent because of the problem mentioned here and discussed with the management especially with the owner Mr. Wsm.

I told the management about all the problems and activities taken by the criminals residing in the building in early August 2011 but no action was taken. The staff is scared for its job from the owner and from the criminals from the criminals in the building. The owner is not interested as to what is going on. He appears to be interested in making money. There are not background checks about people applying for an apartment so anyone can rent here no matter how bad and criminal ones background check report is.

The owner knew that I am a decent person and came through the reference of a clean and neat business man but still he deliberately gave me the apartment which was located in the midst of where these criminals are residing in July of 2011.

After a lot of requests and meetings I was transferred to the 4th floor where I am living right now. Half of my belongings worth at least $1000.00 that includes DVD Player/VCR, Printer, computer chair, clothes were all infected by the bed bugs and were thrown in the garbage. The city person told me that the bugs are coming from the next door neighbor. Later I found it was true. Their were plenty of gaps in the wall and the main bug arrival was the phone line wall jack. I spent hundreds of dollars buying sprays to kill bugs, mosquitoes, roaches, mothballs and medicine like After Bite, Aspercream and other medicines to reduce swelling of my foot from the bug bite which remain their for at least two months (nearly crippling me) was part of life for at least six months. Even now whenever I see those criminals they laugh at me and threaten me not to report about their activities to the Police or management or else they have dozens of other contacts in the building and outside. Six months of torture and sickness. Pictures of rats, bedbugs(inside my apartment) and inner fighting between these criminals were taken and recorded by my digital camera. The owner is doing nothing but giving lip service and in a way this apathy is a straightforward support for these criminals residing in Khan Associates building. Till they do something about removing these tenants I would not recommend this building for any decent person who wants to live in a decent place. The place is worse then a shelter when it comes to standard of living and the kind of people living here on the third floor where I was living. I requested a friend and he is looking for a nice place that he knows the people their and hopefully very soon I will be moving their.
