A 360-degree emphasis on your wellness
Equivita is not easy to describe. If you call it a "gym," you immediately invoke visions of muscleheads, spandex, and bored staff. So it's definitely not a gym...but Equivita will make you healthy...on YOUR terms.
My fitness assessment (which also considered my personal goals) identified some biomechanical weaknesses (my posture could be a lot better; that's what I get for sitting at a computer all day!) and produced a comprehensive program that included resistance training, cardio, and massage therapy. As a result, I perform better in my weekend team sports, I walk with more confidence, and I feel less stressed.
As personalized as the programs are, the best feature of Equivita is its staff and the community they create. Not only do I know all of the trainers by name, but I know many of the other exercisers...and they come in all shapes and sizes. Being a member at Equivita almost feels like being part of a social club or a fraternity, but one where everyone is cool.
I would be remiss if I didn't highlight the "Kick-Ass Cardio" sessions run by Christopher. I didn't know a 20-minute workout could be so intense and gratifying. During one session, you will punch, kick, elbow, crawl, run, jump, and ATTACK your way to cardio fitness...all tuned to an aggressive and highly-motivating musical soundtrack. After each session, I am fully exhausted, but I have also unloaded a lot of pent-up stress.
If you live in the Grandview area, you owe it to yourself to check out Equivita in person. Take a yoga class, or schedule an assessment, or visit during one of their "Experience Fairs." Equivita may not be easy to categorize, but at the end of the day, I am confident that they are invested in ME!

Great People and a Great Workout
I started coming to Equivita about 5 months ago and have been hooked ever since. The first thing you realize is that you are not intimidated by the people who are working out and walking around. The whole staff is really friendly and is ready to assist you in finding what the perfect combination of classes, training sessions and massage sessions are for you.
I came to look into the Kick Ass Cardio Class that was being offered and was pleasantly surprised at the variety of other classes that were also available. The Kick Ass Cardio class is an intense but fun class where you learn kickboxing and body awareness. Chris is a great instructor who really cares about his clients and knows how to make the workouts really rewarding. I also recommend the Zumba, Nia and Hoop Stomp classes as well. These classes offer a fun times and good workouts with other great Equivita instructors.
Since first coming to Equivita I have dropped 40 lbs and I am in the best shape of my life. I really have the great instructors and especially Chris to thank for giving me the encouragement and push I needed to really change my life for the better.

Good Medicine Without Pills
I came here about 6 months ago as I needed some guidance and a jump start. As a health care professional I knew that taking pills for back pain was not the answer. The more pain I had the less I moved which just made everything worse. Pain seems to engulf your entire existance. After Adam's assessment which identified why I was having pain I had an Ah Ha moment and with Chris's gentle guidance I have lost 25lbs and moving without pain. I continue to get stronger and moving is much easier. To say the least I am thrilled. No one can care for others until you care for yourself. They all make it easier and fun. Laughter and Equivita are Good Medicine.

Adopt your own mantra - or use mine
My mantra - "This is the most important thing I can do for myself...This is the most important thing I can do for myself...This is the most important thing I can do for myself. " Whether it's pushing through 10 minutes on the EFX, having weight added to hip stabilizer exercises, disciplining myself to arrive first thing in the morning twice a week, or paying for a yoga class package to better insure my faithful attendance. Being introduced to Equivita 8 months ago has made a major difference in my mental and physical health. Several pounds lighter and increasingly stronger, with happier knees and improved posture, I encourage you to check it out for yourself and adopt your own mantra - or use mine.

Be good to your body
I came to EquiVita wanting to fix my ailling shoulder, and accomplished this and learned much more. The staff at EquiVita will work to help you understand how your body works in terms you can understand. They will push you to make sure that you're improving yourself mentally and physically to make the "future you" healthier and stronger.
