Best lockerooms in Manhattan!
I joined 5 months ago on a recommendation from my nutritionist/tranier. It's more expensive than the 24 hour fitness I was at, however, the environment, and workout experience is worth it for me. I go in the mornings and it's not nearly as crowded as 24 hour fitness is at 730am. Crowd and atmosphere is pleasant and more upbeat than the shift I was working out at 24 hour fitness. The decor is modern, clean and beautiful, and the staff is accommodating and professional. The gym's size took me awhile to get used too, cause it's so gigantic. However, after a hard workout, with the clean, new machines and free weights, the clean, luxurious locker rooms are 1000 times better than 24 hour fitness, and after a hard workout, I dig not having to hurry out of the shower, cause I feel uncomfortable.
Pricey, but for me... it's worth it

Not bad for a gym spa
So equinox has this whole 'holier than thou' approach to gym-ing. Which is great - I love how I feel coming out of an equinox, looking at the poor devils still working out at NYSC or something like that.
It's not bad to have a pool at the gym - especially in the heart of Manhattan. BUT - and this is important - it's a bit crowded (3 lanes total!) - which means 3 people to a lane any given evening, so expect some bumpage and 'sorry, no you first, no go ahead really' type engagements.
I also like that no one is shoving training sessions down my throat there - although, wouldn't mind a swimming coach.
Like the steam room somewhat, jacuzzi. Wish they had more places to sit (there are like 6 seats in the whole spa).
Mixed feelings about the shower-cap rule: hate to wear it, glad other people have to.
But again, for a pool in your gym it isn't a bad deal.
