Steer clear of this outfit!

I used Beckers to handle my small business accounting needs for 3 years and found that the IRS and Texas State Comptroller was always after me for something that was supposed to have been submitted by Beckers. The final straw when IRS wanted a remittance for a 2008 tas year discrepency. I passed this on to Beckers for verification, where is sat for a couple of months until the IRS threatened to place a lien on my property. The work that I finally pressed them to do by sitting on someones desk until I had something was incorrect. I finally resolved the problem myself by finding Becker's mistake, and the IRS claim was valid.



I had to pay my new accountant ot go back and fix other mistakes in Becker's book keeping because they refused (by ignoring my reque3sts) to cooperate in correcting the errors or even to return all my financial files and documents.

IVE BEEN USING BECKERS TAX FOR 5 YEARS THEN IN 09 I STARTED GETTING AUDITED FOR 07 TAXES AND HAVE BEEN AUDITED EVERY YEAR SINCE!!! HIS EX-BUSINESS PARTNER (WEALTHBUILDERS) HAVE ALSO FILED SUITS AGAINST HIM FOR FRAUD...ALL STATEMENTS FROM THE FOLLOWING REVIEWER ARE TRUE...AND THEN SOME...ALL CONNECTIONS TO THE IRS HAVE BEEN REVOKED HE IS NOW UNDER FEDERAL OFFENSES!!!! Terrible Tax Service

Normally my taxes are pretty simple and clear cut, but a couple of years ago I had a foreign tax credit left over from the previous year that I did not know how to handle. I went to Beckers, waited in a long line and went through the process with a tax specialist. After finishing she asked me if I just wanted her to go ahead and file my return. I was shocked and told her no, that I hadn't even looked over it and neither had she. So she printed it out, I told her I would take it home and look it over and call her back and then she could file the return. When I looked it over, I realized that that not only was the foreign tax credit handled incorrectly but that also the tax deductible IRA that I had contibuted to and we had discussed was not on my return. I went back to Becker and had to wait in the long lines again. After making a big scene in the waiting area over my botched return I was able to speak with Mr. Becker. After looking at my return he brought someone else out to handle it and inform me that my return had erroneously already been efiled and that we would have to do a revised return. The errors on my return amounted to a reduction of refund from the IRS of around $7000. Had I not had previous experience doing my own return I probably would not have caught the mistakes and we would have been out $7000. Doing a revised return also delayed our refund considerably. Needless to say they refunded the fees that we paid to them.Then a year later we received a notice from the IRS that they had found another mistake on the return that I missed. Two numbers had been transposed and we owed about $250. The most concerning thing to me was that I called Beckers several weeks after we had done the revised return and asked for the person who had initially done our return and she was still working there. She was obviously not qualified to do the job and they kept her employed.

I would never go back.

This is the third year that I have gone to Becker's Tax Service and it will be my final. I am regretful that I even went to them again this year. The first year this company filed my taxes, they messed up on my dependent's SSN and I had to call them several times to get fixed. I also had to keep calling to try to get a copy of the corrected return. The second time I went to them to file my taxes, I had to once again call repeatedly to get a copy of my return. They were supposed to mail it out after I received my direct deposit. I received the mail copy only after weeks of calling. This year, Joe Becker is trying to save on paper, so he promised to email me a copy of my return once the return was deposited into my account. Surprise, surprise, no email with a copy of my return has arrived yet even though I already received the funds in my account. No, Joe never asked me if I would like a copy, he simply stated that it will be emailed because he spent over $280,000 last year on paper. "So you pay my enormous fees and print it out yourself because I'm going to save money on paper," is what Joe is simply saying to me.



I would never go back. I did my own taxes on Turbo Tax prior to going to Becker's and it was the EXACT same amount that Joe came up with, minus the $380 in fees that Joe charged. Not only do I not trust them to do what they say and get my own copy of my own return in a timely manner, but I could have saved the enormous fee of $380 to file a simple return. I guess I deserved to be swindled out of $380 because I went back. Never again!

I GOT MY REFUND IN 6 Hours

I have never been treated like this before when doing my taxes. Friendly, full of advise, affordable and i get my refund the very same day. Six hours to tell you the truth. I will recommend everyone i know. Thanks Beckers.
