My elderly father contracted this company to do some work at his home and asked me to be at the house to let him in as he couldn't be here. I expected to be left an invoice for my father to settle in due course. This was not to be. I found the plumber who came most unpleasant - when he had finished the work arranged, he said "I want paying" and was jabbing his finger on an invoice to draw my attention to the word "Cash". I understood that to mean he wanted actual cash, though I had no idea how much he even wanted - he seemed incapable of understanding that I was not party to the arrangements. When I told him I didn't have cash on me and that none had been left with me, he became very aggressive and raised his voice. I felt extremely threatened. The plumber didn't say I could pay by chq so I was unaware that this was an acceptable method of payment until I called my father to ask him to bring money home with him. The plumber we normally deal with is so much more relaxed - does the job, calls my husband with an amount and we make a BACS payment a day or so after the job is done - not this guy. What a shame our usual man couldn't do this particular job. Nobody minds paying for a job as it is finished but a gentler attitude and a better explanation of how payment can be made is required. We will not be using this man again and I would certainly not recommend him to anyone else, particularly those of an elderly or at all vulnerable disposition.
